Post Operative Prosthesis Socket and Preparatory Sytem
Purpose of the Device
- Allows patient to begin immediate post-operative rehabilitation and early ambulation by offering added protection
- Permits diligent wound care and controlled weight bearing
- Helps build patient tolerance for permanent socket
Indications
- Transtibial amputees
Common Additions
- Variable circumference supra-patellar socket (VCSPS)
- Adjustable post-operative protective prosthetic socket (APOPPS)
Special Considerations
- Severe diabetics may not be viable candidates for post-op system
